4-piece indie unit Isle of Eight, from the great state of Kentucky, have strayed far away from the traditional bluegrass of their native home and veered into the land of punchy, melodic indie rock. The group, made up of Isaac Craft, Austin Vitucci, Nick Bernard, and Dale Devore hit the scene with their debut album, Of Chesapeake, in 2015, and have already shown tremendous musical progress since.
While I enjoyed the album as a stand-alone project and continue to listen, I feel that the band was still seeking their personal touch on a now-popular genre.
With the release of the 2017 single, "Jean Jacket", Isle of Eight has found their stride. With rolling guitar harmonies and a powerful drum and bass beat, "Jean Jacket" is the most complete track the group has put together and has proven to be one of their most popular in a short period of time.
