Austin's Historic Scoot Inn Scooped Up by C3 Presents

Austin-based music production giant, C3 Presents, has recently acquired the historic Scoot Inn, an Eastside dive bar whose stories predate Disney World, the World Series, and World War I. Built in 1871 as a mercantile store, this landmark has operated as a local watering hole and spacious outdoor music joint for over 60 years. The barn-like setup allows casual onlookers to get a good view from both the outdoor patio and indoor saloon, while a belt-high log fence inches from the stage provides plenty of real estate for the more adventurous to grab some pine right upfront.

Within weeks of moving to Austin, Scoot Inn wasted no time becoming a personal go-to spot after introducing me to the extraordinary Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats in late 2015 - stay tuned for a full spotlight on those cats later. Since that time, I've returned to jam to Keller Williams, groove with Rebirth Brass Band, and help hoist the stage-diving David Shaw at a sold out Revivalists show. In addition, Scoot Inn has recently played host to numerous ACL (Austin City Limits) late-night acts and SXSW (South by Southwest) performances.

C3 Presents, whose majority shareholder is Live Nation Entertainment, is a top 3 domestic music promotion platform, overseeing the likes of ACL and Lollapalooza. With this acquisition, Scoot Inn adds a native element to C3's portfolio of exclusively-booked venues in Austin, joining Stubb's and Emo's. The hope is that the production company's massive network, brand recognition, and experienced management team will be able to beef up the venue's historically light music calendar...just please don't book Tyler the Creator again.
